Costuming and Cosplay - Dusted

I have no idea who this boy is, or what exactly he's playing, if anything specific at all, but everything he's doing here is gorgeous. Including himself. :D

It's a CyberSteamishVictoriany punkish thing. I wish I had more detailed pics of this! I'd like a closeup of that vest, it looks to have a lovely pattern on it. And the striped tie pulls that whole top part together. And the pants!
I also consider this a hair post, because I LOVE the styling here. I feel like it's a little cyberpunkish, too. Wish I had detail of all the stuff he's got going on in there.
Also, he's doing extra nice things by having accessories, the gloves, the watch, the goggles.

Put your eyes on this lovely male and enjoy. And I do know some fellow geek girls whose jaws are gonna drop when they see this guy, so I suggest you ladies put your bibs on first!

On The Runway

I wonder if Ermenegildo Zegna has done much costuming for films. Cause he should. I love the layering here, and the colors. Wish I had closeups of these!!

Seen on the runway during India fashion week. I wouldn't have ever thought to pair that tie with that jacket. But I like it, and especially the jacket. They picked the right model for this look, too. I wish I knew who this designer was!

Brad Pitt

During the Best Suit voting for the 2011 Golden Globes, while perusing the pics I noted that while there was only one picture for each of the other guys in their suits , there were two pics of Brad. And I thought, well well...why the extra pic for Brad, eh? Favoritism?? And then I remembered that I hadn't even done a post on Brad yet for the WDM blog. And was ashamed.


I may not have thought you deserved two pics for that suit contest, Brad, but you are a WDM. Smoked our faces off with this:

Wow. There is nothing incorrect here. And the glasses, two thumbs.
I am curious about the fabric for that jacket. Wish I could touch and inspect it!

While I love mainstream styles, not everything has to be streamlined, symmetrical, predictable. I like avant garde, couture, etc... I never know what I will like until I see it. And I likes these, by designers:

So Casually adorable. I didn't even mind the blue denim jeans, because they came with that cool vest, followed by that super crisp jacket. I approve. Don't approve of the cigarette though. Seriously, how are we gonna make out with these boys with all of that going on.





I wish there'd been a full body shot of this suit, but apparently mid-torso-up is good enough to make it onto this blog! I like the lapels, the pinstripe, and the tie. And it's interesting that shirt pattern was paired with that jacket or that tie. I like it!

Ken Watanabe - Inception

I knew the film's costuming was going to be outstanding from the beginning, when Ken Watanabe appeared wearing this:





LOVE THIS. It's a traditional nagajuban blended with modern menswear, according to Jeffrey.

I do wish Mal wasn't blocking his face in this shot with her SIG-Sauer. :(
But I do love Mal, and that kick-ass dress. But this blog isn't about the girls, Mal! :)

I'm annoyed that I don't have great still of ALL of Ken's costumes. While there's some points where Arthur appears to try to dress down, Saito does no such thing. Man, we could eat Ken Watanabe alive.

I vote that we kidnap and keep Ken Watanabe here, forever and ever, so that he may make movies in which he wears obscenely beautiful clothing, and very sexily lean on things with hands in pockets!!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Inception

I've been saving myself for Inception.

As much raving as I have done about this movie elsewhere, I've been asked when I was going to glorify the Inception crew on the official WDM page. Hey, I was gonna! I was just waiting for things to die down a bit, so my head wouldn't explode. I have now seen Inception four times, so I think I'm ready.

"Glorify" indeed... Glory be to the costuming gods. Perfectly tailored visual bliss. Let's begin. First of all...


Why didn't nobody tell me that 3rd Rock rolls like this now?!

Yes, that's Joseph in this blog's header, a shot from the set of the movie. That suit is incredible. The tie, oh, the tie. I had a lot of pics I wanted to use for this site's header, but for now that one just does it all for me. Here, see it again! Because your eyes can never see it too much!

did you see the shoes??

The movie is still in theaters in some places, (I just saw it again at the cheap seats), but it should be coming up for release on DVD/BluRay soon. Honestly, that'll be the only way I can really study what's being worn by all the characters without being distracted by how awesome the movie is. As a film person, the movie distracts me from the studying the clothing,  and the clothing distracts me from the other elements of the movie, which I also love.  Inception is a lot to take in!  Many levels to absorb. It may not be as much of a distraction for those viewers who aren't fashion/costume-philes, though. :D

From what I can see and remember, with the exception of the opening scenes tux, Arthur wears mostly three-pieces in this, which is aaaaaawesooooooooome. I love that someone with his body type is rocking the three piece so perfectly tailored to his frame; he wears it beautifully. Such gorgeous work.

There's not a single tie in this movie that doesn't deserve recognition. You go, you f-ing awesome tie!




Now where is that sweater?....The sweater ensemble he wears in the lab and teaching scenes with Ariadne is GREAT. But I don't have a pic of that one. :o/ When the DVD hits, screen caps are a must. There are a lot of shots of costumes that I can 't find on the webs. But when I do get a nice shot of it, it will go here:

As I said on my other Inception postings elsewhere: "Who told Joseph he could raid Justin Timberlake's closet? And why did they not do this sooner??

Seriously, if you're a JT fan and you've followed him for any length of time after the Justified album, what Joseph wears in the movie will seem familiar!

Joseph will be featured on this blog for Inception, but also for his off-film shoots and editorials and stuff.

Also if I ever meet costumer Jeffrey Kurland, I will probably kiss him right on the mouth for this.





Oh yes, I see you Ken Watanabe. Don't worry, you're next...
